The New York State Corrections Officer and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA) Auburn Sector selected the North Rose-Wolcott Central School District as one of six area school districts to receive a $1,000 donation to assist families in need.
The donation will go toward the Cougar Cupboard, NRW’s school-based food pantry that assists families with food needs throughout the year.
Members of the Auburn sector said they wanted to reach out to rural communities in the area during the holiday season in order to assist students and families during tough economic times.
“We have members who live out here,” said union steward Chuck Thomas. “Times are tough right now, so if we can do a little bit to help, we’re happy.”
