NRWHS Students Recognized with Regional Scholastic Art Awards

Three North Rose-Wolcott High School art students have received recognition in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for having some of the best student artwork in the Central New York region.

The regional Scholastic Awards, hosted each year by Onondaga Community College, recognize the best works from area middle and high school students in a variety of categories including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, ceramics, and digital art. Award winners are determined through a juried art show that takes into account factors including originality, technical skill, and the artist’s personal vision.

Ceramic students Gabby Chatfield and Cady Sabansky both received Honorable Mention awards for their work. Photography student Hayley Topping received a Gold Key for her art portfolio and one of her photographs. Topping also received two Silver Keys and two Honorable Mentions for her work. Topping's Gold Key-awarded work will go on for national judging.

The winning works will be on display from January 10 through March 3 at Whitney Applied Technology Center on the OCC campus.

We are very proud of all of the students who submitted work and were chosen for this honor!
