The North Rose-Wolcott Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Hassall as assistant principal of North Rose-Wolcott Middle School and Joseph Canori as assistant principal of North Rose-Wolcott Elementary School.

The North Rose-Wolcott Board of Education approved Hassall’s and Canori’s appointments on August 11.

Hassall comes to NRW from Honeoye Falls-Lima High School, where he spent the last two years as an assistant principal. Previously, Hassall taught 7th grade history at Rochester Preparatory Charter School and was an assistant principal at Sodus Junior-Senior High School. Hassall holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport and a master’s degree in education leadership from the American College of Education.

While at Sodus, Hassall developed a strong connection with the area and community, and his new role at NRW presented an opportunity to return to Wayne County and the middle school setting. He is looking forward to working with staff, students and families at NRWMS.

“I am passionate about building school culture, developing authentic relationships, and being visible and accessible to students, staff and families throughout each day,” he said.

Canori is already a familiar face to some NRW students, as he most recently served as the principal for NRW’s summer school programs. Canori brings over 14 years of experience in education, including time spent as a high school mathematics teacher at the Norman Howard School in Rochester and as an elementary special education teacher and basketball coach in the Webster Central School District. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Nazareth College and is currently working toward completing his administrative certificate at SUNY Oswego.

A Wayne County resident, Canori loves the diverse community at NRW and is looking forward to the year ahead. “I sincerely look forward to inserting myself within the community as well as developing and fostering relationships with students, families and staff,” he said.
