Ceramic Work From NRW Artists Featured in Feats of Clay Exhibit
Two NRW ceramics students have received awards in this year’s Feats of Clay art exhibit.
Grace King received the Clayscapes Pottery Award for Ceramic Excellence and Damien Young received the Independent Potters Association Handbuilt Award. Their works were selected among pieces from 12 other school districts to receive awards in the juried art show, which celebrates excellence in ceramics among students in the Syracuse area and beyond.
Other NRW students with pieces featured in the exhibit include Sarah Burnett, Lacie Scheid, Lilyan King, Dillon Sperry, and Jodi Haffner.
The Feats of Clay exhibit is on display at the Ann Felton Multicultural Center on the campus of Onondaga Community College through May 5. The show is the precursor to the 33rd annual Feats of Clay Olympics, scheduled for May 6. Students will compete in events such as the Cylinder Stack, Mug Production, No Hands Throw, Blindfold Throw, Pot Put and Highest Coiling.
Since its inception in 1987, Feats of Clay has fostered ceramic education and awareness in the Syracuse area, with participation growing in recent years to include districts from around upstate New York.
