Five NRW High School Students Receive Scholastic Art Awards

Award winners Scholastic Art Awards holding ceramicsFive NRW art students have received recognition in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for having some of the best student artwork in the Central New York region.

The regional Scholastic Awards, hosted each year by Onondaga Community College, recognize the best works from area middle and high school students in a variety of categories including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, ceramics, and digital art. Award winners are determined through a juried art show that takes into account factors including originality, technical skill, and the artist’s personal vision.

Winners from North Rose-Wolcott include:

Sarah Burnett: Two honorable mention awards in Ceramics

Selena Deon: Gold Key and honorable mention in Photography

Brady Jones: Silver Key in Ceramics

Mia Rowe: Two Silver Keys in Photography

Damien Young: Honorable mention in Mixed Media

The winning works will be on display through February in an art show at Whitney Applied Technology Center on the OCC campus.
