NRW Voters Approve Capital Improvement Project

UPDATE: On Thursday, December 16, 2021, North Rose-Wolcott Central School District voters approved the Capital Improvement Project proposal by a vote of 117-26.

On December 16, 2021, NRW district residents will have the opportunity to vote on a proposed Capital Improvement Project that would address facilities needs at North Rose-Wolcott High School, North Rose-Wolcott Elementary School, the district's maintenance building, and the athletic fields.

The vote will take place from 12 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 16, in the NRW High School foyer.

The district is proposing $11.1 million in improvements. If approved, the project would be funded through $3,036,697 in the capital reserve approved by district voters in May 2017, with the remainder coming from state building aid. This proposal would have no impact on school taxes.

Proposed improvements include:

High School: Repairs to masonry on gymnasium exterior wall; roof replacement over gymnasium area; reconfiguration of Alternative Learning Center (ALC) rooms; conversion of rooms 140 and 141 into a large group instruction and meeting area; a secure, handicap-accessible entrance to the District Office area on the east side of the building near the parking lot; and auditorium updates including lighting and audiovisual equipment, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance improvements, and seat and carpeting replacement.

Athletic Facilities: Replacement of track surface; new, ADA-compliant bleachers; new concession stand with restrooms; and new dugouts and press box.

Elementary School: Window replacement in original section of building, replacement of gymnasium exterior metal panels, and masonry work.

Maintenance Facility: Roof replacement.
