Introduction

School counselors spend a majority of their time working with students and parents.  A student's success in pursuing their education is an important goal of both the school and parents.  Counselors help students when something interrupts their success in school, whether it is improving study skills, or discussing a concern they may have.  Parents are an important part of a student's success in school.  We contact parents and encourage parents to contact us regarding concerns that affect their children at home and/or school.

We have support groups available to students in grades 6, 7, and 8.  One is Banana Splits, a group for students who have parents that are either divorced or separated.  Another support group is our Grieving Group.  This is a group for students who have lost either a parent, friend, or a family member.  Our goals for the student support groups are to help students handle their feelings in a productive way and know that there are others who share similar thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
